Brother Porter Ross gave his life to Christ in his mid 20’s while attending Family Life, COGIC. His Pastor at that time was the late Elder Herman Littleton, Sr. Brother Ross received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and began to feel the call to preach upon his life soon afterwards. After some time, he was appointed Assistant to Sunday Superintendent Clarence Cosey. After serving for over a year in this capacity, Superintendent Cosey’s employment changed causing
him to relocate. At that time Brother Ross was appointed Sunday School Superintendent. He served in this capacity for 8 years until the Lord called Elder Herman Littleton, Sr. home in late 2007. At that time Elder Daniel Littleton assumed the leadership of the church, and at the start of the following year moved the members to Greater Deliverance in January of 2008.

At Greater Deliverance, Bother Ross continued to grow spiritually and helped to establish the Sunday School Department with guidance from Pastor Daniel Littleton. He was later appointed to the Deacon’s Board. On December 5, 2008 Deacon Ross accepted the call to preach that God had placed upon his life years earlier, and consulted with his Pastor. After some time he received his Minister’s license and continued to serve. Minister Ross was ceremonially ordained at Davis Temple as an Elder in 2015.

On October 3rd, 2021 Elder Ross was appointed as Pastor of the Mars Hill Church of God in Christ in Philadelphia, MS by Bishop Daniel Littleton, Jurisdictional Prelate of the Mississippi Southern First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.

Elder Ross has been married to his beautiful wife Sonya for 32 years. Together they have 3 sons and 3 grandchildren.
